Excellent!!! I really enjoyed hearing all you said because it's so true! People need to hear this and you did this wonderfully for them to understand and supporters of Bipolar sometimes need this to remind them their loved ones have a medical condition that has it's highs and lows sometimes they are happy and others when they are down and depressed it can seem like the end of the world!
We as supporters have to be there for our loved ones to do just as you suggest we do on all your emails and this podcast is excelllent!
Keep up the great work Dave

    Dave,
Thanks so much for the voice tapes and also all of the emails that you have sent me. There was so much that I did not know about bipolar. I have also shared these emails with other family members. I wish that I had known this in the past.

    Again,
    Thanks

Dave, I appreciate each and every letter I receive from you by e-mail. I suffer with bi-polar. Alot of your letters are meaningful to me, and I copy. I attend a support group once a week, and these letters help me to understand my condition as well as read in class. My supporters often dissagree, but it often ends in an argument situation. Actually, I take this illness in a more serious outlook than they do, I quess. The answer is my group supporters are trying to cure us of being bi-polar and send us out into the open world to be a part of society and live happy ever after. Your letters are more concerning and gives me more meaning to the world outside. Thank you David!

Hi dave, thank you for your pod cast and email's that you have sent me over the past few weeks, it really helps. i have bipolar, and was diagnosed at the beginning of this year, since then i have been on medication to control my moods which has really helped. i find it really hard to deal with my bipolar as my manic episodes have caused my family not to talk to me any more, my friends too. i have one good friend who really listens to me but doesnt really see that its the bipolar that makes me act eratic and manic, so its hard but your emails have really helped me to understand my disorder more, so i thank you for that :)

    best wishes

    Tom.

Very good! I'm a supporter and I never thought of it this way. I work with teens and self-esteem is soooo important. Now, if we can get the rest of the world on the same page...

I congratulate you on all the wonderful work you are doing. I always read all the emails you send and today was a great bonus to hear you speaking. I fully support you in all your endeavours and found I could do whatever I had to do at home and turn up the volume and listen more comfortably than when I am in a rush and want to read what you have sent but don't always have the time straight away to focus on your message of the day. Thank you. Marlene

So glad to find a source of valuable information. I see there is much to learn about the disease. I can also see I have not handled myself appropriately with the BPD person in my life. I recently filed yet another warrant for his arrest for distruction of my property. For now it is keeping him away. I feel I can no longer help him, although he means a lot to me. He is my children\'s bilogical parent. Although he severed his parental right 6 yeas ago, I thought it would benefit my nearly adult children to know him after I was diagnosed with cancer. It appears it has been a terrible mistake on my part. The chaos he has caused my family has been overwelming. After speaking with a mental health care nurse, as I considered a petition by the courts to have him psycholigcally evaluated, she said something that has stuck with me and I ask your opinions on this. Is it typical for a BPD individule to abuse drugs and alcohol? I explained to the nurse he has been a member of Alcoholics Annominus for nearly 14 years, but I had not seen a change in his behavior. I have seen more severe and frequent episodes of irratic behavior over the past year. He refuses to admit he has a problem other than with alcohol so the suggestion of BPD is out of the question. When doctors have suggested such a diagnosis, let alone any diagnosis he does not return to the doctor. It is referred to as \"living in denial\". How do you get help for some one who does not want help? In my heart I know this person must be eliminated from our lives as his unhealthiness makes those around him unhealthy. I am still exhalsted after dealing with his episodes from 2 weeks ago. I am a cancer survivor as well and can not tollerate this lifestyle. Please tell me what you know about BPD and alcohol and naturally anything else you want to include that will be beneficial. MANY THANKS! LORA
